Merge to a new SafeConsole server

1. Backup the /db and the /cert folder (and safeconsole.ini from the root folder)

2. Install SafeConsole on the new server (generate a new certificate as well unless you would rather want to rewrite a DNS record from old server to point to new server)

3. Shut down the new server

4. Restore the /db /cert /safeconsole.ini to the new server

5. Restart new server

You should now be able to log in and see the whole structure in place including all SafeStick drives.

Easy way, I can rewrite a DNS record for my old server to point to the new server

6. Take the keystore.p12 from the old server and import it in the new server with the SafeConsole configuration application

7. Edit the DNS record for you old server to point to your new server instead

8. Wait for the DNS to be replicated to all machines.

Start using SafeStick again

Hard way, I must have a new DNS entry for the new machine. I can’t have the same URL for the new server

6. Export the new server certificate as a .cer file (DER encoded, this is easiest to do by installing the .p12 file on Windows and then export it without the private key)

7. log in to the old server admin interface

8. Import the new server certificate .cer file in the ‘certificate overview’

9. Configure the ‘public server’ tab in ‘configuration overview’

10. Set the url and certificate for the new server

11. Insert a SafeStick drive. It should connect to the old server and get the configuration

12. Verify that the SafeStick is updated in the SafeStick overview. (updated = yes)

13. Have this configuration in place until all users have connected the SafeStick drives, then shut the old server down.
